Greetings from the International Office.

This email is to address concerns related to the visa processing delays being experienced by students wishing to study in Canada. Please be advised that Colleges across Canada have been advised by CIC that Canada is still processing study visas on time for this year, and processing times will improve even more on a go forward basis. For those students who are applying for their visa now, please ensure they use the online application system and do not attend in person.

However, colleges, including Conestoga College,  have agreed to extend the start date for those students whose visa has not yet been approved, allowing students in these circumstance to arrive, enroll and be ready to begin class no later than September 16th. Visa offices abroad will be contacted directly by the Association of Canadian Colleges and made aware of this late start date. For this reason, no individual late start letters will be issued at this time.

Students whose visas have already been approved, must arrive on time to begin their studies by September 3rd (where possible by the orientation date) to ensure success in the first semester of their program.

After September 16th, late arrivals will be deferred to the next available intake or guided to an alternate program of study as required.

Please note however, Conestoga College will implement the following exceptions and alternate late starts for programs listed below:

There will be NO LATE STARTS for the following programs:

Accounting, Audit and Information Technology (Bachelor of Business Administration)

Applied Health Information Science (Bachelor of) – formerly Health Informatics Management

Architecture -  Project and Facility Management (Bachelor of Applied Technology)

Biotechnology Technician

Community and Criminal Justice (Bachelor of)

Global Business Management – students will be deferred to the October intake

Interior Design (Bachelor of)

International Business Management (Bachelor of Business Administration)

Please ensure that your students are aware that it is their full responsibility to ensure their future success in the program based on their late arrival and that no special compensation will be granted.

We look forward to welcoming your students to the College and wish them success in securing their visas to come to Canada
